Visual Eclecticism Photos and Paintings
Fort Myers Florida

Through my photography and painting I attempt to capture the randomness, tension and beauty that represent life.  In much of my earlier work, I largely was making art for art's sake, trying to capture the interesting and attractive things I saw around me.  In these works you will see a more traditional approach to art in general and photography in particular.  However, you will also note an eclectic mix of subject matter and style indicative of my view of the world.

With age I have become much more interested in the human mind as the centerpiece of reality.  As such, my more recent work has become a journey to visually depict emotions, and the psychological landscape (of myself and the collective).  When creating new work, I try to facilitate an outpouring of my unconscious functions and to represent these concepts and feelings in two dimensions.

For years I have been influenced by Buddhism, cross-cultural symbolism described by the likes of Joseph Campbell and my appreciation of modern psychology.  In my current works, I have been exploring the act of personal growth and discovery through attempts to capture representations of randomness at the moment of creation/inspiration.

The "photographs" in my Abstract B-W Gallery my most recent pieces and are consequently my current favorites.  These works are truly less photos in any traditional sense (typically no negatives are used) than art created through a photographic medium.  They are completely unique in that they cannot be reproduced and instead are generated or inspired at the moment(s) they are exposed to light.  Each is meant to be as individual as each of us and as their moment of creation.
